Willow Lake (top) is our oldest lake dating back to the middle of the last century.

It’s a spring fed lake with a natural island surrounded by a wide variety of established trees and vegetation.

The lake is stocked with carp to almost 30lb with a good population of Tench, Perch, Rudd and Roach.

Corn, meat, pellets and paste and boilies are all popular baits. Bread has proved effective both on or just below the surface or on the bottom. The whole lake fishes well in the summer with the island and dam being popular, the deeper water near the outlet is favoured in winter.

Do not neglect the margins, good numbers of fish can be caught close in, literally within a rod length of the bank.

Floating baits such as bread and mixers can be used to target the Carp during the warmer months with the evenings being a favourite time to use this exciting method.

James Metherell  - Exelent Day   |217.155.192.xxx |2009-03-02 13:35:55 I had a excellent days fishing and caught 10 perch which were all over 1 lb,7 common carp and 2 mirror carp.The perch were caught on red maggots using a size 12 hook,the carp were caught using meat with a bed of hemp pellets over my hook bait which was ledged on the bottom.Hope to come back soon.What a fantastic place Quote 16   5

We fished right next to the Willow tree and was kept busy all day with good sized Roach and Rudd. James had lots of Perch none of a decent size unfortunately. I had a nice Common Carp of 10lb 8oz caught on method feeder voodoo mix size 8 hair rigged Strawberry Luncheon Meat this fish is my personal best we went on to catch another 5 Carp all around 4 or 5lb mark between us. We travelled up from Plymouth and all in all a great day out and we will certainly be back hopefully when the sun is shining. Quote 5   5

By the time we'd wallked up to Willow pool to the swim, (the high platform to the left of the island) got some bait in and set up, the light was just breaking through. Within minutes of our baits hitting the lake bed my mate James had a screaming run on his legered Halibut pellet, (on our patented rigs). No sooner than his fish went back in my bite alarm went nuts!! This was to be the order of the day, with a steady run of fish all day Much to the dismay of two anglers fishing the opposit sid of the lake who LOUDLY made a sarcastic jeer as i got snapped off by a good common! Nobody likes anglers like that and i must admit this is the first time i've encountered PLONKERS like this at south view!
